Police sources said two sisters Sandhya (5) and Jaya (3) of Red Hills died on the spot and 18 others including six women, said to be labourers, sustained serious injuries when a mini lorry they were travelling in collided with a lorry near Padalam today. The mini lorry was going from Chennai to Tindivanam and the lorry was coming in the opposite direction. In another accident today, two persons travelling in a milk tanker lorry were killed and the driver and the cleaner were injured when a tipper lorry rammed it at Damal near Baluchettichathiram. The tanker lorry was proceeding from Chennai to Vellore. Senthil (30) of Washermanpet, Chennai, died on the spot when a motorbike in which he was riding along with his wife collided with another motorcycle near Pudupakkam near Kancheepuram yesterday. The other motorcyclist, Ashok (23), sustained injuries. Sankaran (35) of Manampathi, who was riding a moped, was killed on the spot and Ulaganathan (30), pillion rider, sustained injuries when it collided with a van at Manampathi yesterday. Rajesh (9) was crushed to death when a lorry overturned and fell on him at Keerapakkam yesterday. Police sources said the lorry driver was trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle, when the accident occurred.
