Coming as it does a week after a similar cement kalasam on the southwestern side of the `Karnakoodu' fell off the same tower, Sunday's incident triggered discussions at Srirangam based on a variety of notions. Incidentally, the day happened to be `Adi Perukku'. Also, a few days ago a painted clay object fell off the Rajagopuram. Officials of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department and the temple, who inspected the gopuram and the fallen kalasams, said there was absolutely no danger to the structure and nothing more to be read into falling of the kalasam. For, it was not one of main pieces atop the gopuram.
