Rupee recovers against $

MUMBAI JULY 22. The rupee rallied smartly against the U.S. currency today on the back of strong exporter and customer dollar sales, cutting short a five-session string of losses in fairly active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market.

Ending at 46.19/20 a dollar, a sharp nine paise gain from Monday's close of 46.2800/2850, the rupee recovered most of the losses incurred since July 15 when it finished on better terms at 46.14/15 , dealers said.
