KCR calls for debate on water sharing

By Our Staff Reporter

ALAMPUR July 20. The TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, called for a debate on the water sharing between Coastal Andhra and Telangana in the Krishna basin. Addressing the gathering here after launching his padayatra, he accused the TDP Government of resorting to propaganda over water issues and pitting the farmers of Mahabubnagar against the ryots of Kurnool district.

He demanded the Government to release a white paper on the water utilisation in the Krishna basin. "If the experts prove that our contention is wrong, we will drown ourselves either in Srisailam or Nagarjunasagar reservoirs,'' he said. The TRS leader dismissed the argument that Karnataka is utilising more water and said the real culprit is Coastal Andhra. He said the Coastal Andhra lobby is trying to divert the attention of people by showing Karnataka as the villain.
