Members led by the Kodumur MLA, Sikhamani, charged the health department with failure to serve to the satisfaction of public in rural areas. Many doctor posts were vacant in primary health centres. In some cases, doctors did not reside at their place of posting. At Mulagavallin in Alur mandal, the PHC had no furniture and doctor causing inconvenience to the patients.
They said many health centres had no committees to oversee the affairs. Members expressed concern over the growing number of viral fever cases in the district. Sanitation was in bad shape in many villages. Congress members protested that the agenda for the meeting was not given in advance to the members. The Collector, Ajay Jain, intervened and promised to rectify the lapse. Congress members also protested against Ministers' absence at the Zilla Parishad general body meeting. They alleged that none of the three Ministers from the district ever attended the meeting.
The members from the Aluru area tried to draw the attention of the authorities to the crop damage caused by deer. They said the animals started damaging the crops right from the germination stage.
