President's XI takes command

BANGALORE July 15. Robin Uthappa, who is two short of his second century in the KSCA under-19 inter-zone tournament, helped President's XI take command against Mysore in the final that commenced at the Chinnaswamy stadium here on Tuesday.

President's XI had made 190 for three after bundling out Mysore for 125 with medium pacer Gaurav Dhiman bagging a six-wicket haul.

Mysore Zone opted to bat first and lost southpaw opener Sunil Kumar Jain off Dhiman's sixth ball. Dhiman struck again after Yoganath (26) and K.B. Nandish (31) had made some sort of recovery.

He soon reduced Mysore to 65 for six before H.R. Cheluvaraj (23) offered some resistance. Former Test player David Johnson's nephew Denzil Johnson cleaned up the tail bagging two wickets for four as Mysore folded up at 125.

President's XI also started badly losing Tejas Trishul (4) but Robin Uthappa (98 n.o.) and Devraj Patil (51) posted a 121-run partnership for the second wicket. R. Jonathan (17 n.o.) kept Uthappa company at close of play.

The scores:

Mysore Zone 125 (S. Yoganath 26, K.B. Nandish 31, Gaurav Dhiman six for 57) vs President's XI 190 for three (Devraj Patil 51, Robin Uthappa 98 n.o.).
