Letters to the Editor
Sir, TV users are in utter confusion, created by the Minister for Information and Broadcasting and strongly supported by cable operators. Now the monthly bill is proposed to be about Rs.530 (roughly the cost of a second-hand black and white TV set). Negotiations with the operators have resulted in more confusion and a practical solution is nowhere in sight. The operators are, surely, the winners. There are two options left for the poor consumers now: Obey the operators blindly and pay whatever they demand or completely boycott the pay channels. The consumer is not going to get his grievances redressed by the Government because only its mismanagement of the situation made the cable operators adamant. Anyway, cable TV is going to be a thing of the past for an ordinary man in India.
