Letters to the Editor
Sir, Sending troops to Iraq at the behest of America is basically bad in law. The soldier, the basic unit of an Army, would have pledged that he is prepared to lay down his life to defend his country. It is a contract between him and the country; the people and the Government. He is not a slave to be sent away anywhere a government thinks fit and it would be against the contract. It may not be a wise policy to think that the enemy of our friend is also our enemy. It is not enough to announce at every forum that we are a mature nation with a long history, we should prove that we are one.
K.A. Madhva Raja,
