Saying `no' to U.S.

Sir, — The NDA Government is determined to appease the United States by sending Indian troops to Iraq to stabilise its illegal occupation at the earliest. Our troops are expected to shed their blood to prevent the loss of American lives which are threatened by the fighting masses of Iraq. Indian civilisation stands for supporting the suppressed and disadvantaged. We have proved ourselves in many peace-keeping missions under the U.N. In the process, we garnered the support of many developing nations and some developed ones as well for a permanent seat in the U.N. Security Council.

If we simply refuse to oblige the U.S. at this historical juncture, India will emerge as a peace-loving and freedom-friendly power of the world.

Ramesh Chander,
Hisar, Haryana
