'Krishna in a conspiracy'

By Our Staff Correspondent

HASSAN JULY 3. The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) President, H.D. Deve Gowda, on Thursday accused the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, of conspiring against the Janata Dal groups by encouraging the Rajya Sabha member, Vijay Mallya. He said claims by Mr. Mallya, Working President of the Janata Party, that he had the blessings of the JD leader, Ramakrishna Hegde, had caused confusion, and only Mr. Hegde could remove it.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Gowda said: ``I don't know whether Mr. Hegde blessed him or not. Mr. Mallya claims he was. Mr. Hegde might not have clarified his stand due to his ill health, or due to communication gap. Nevertheless, Mr. Mallya is making use of Mr Hegde's name to promote the Janata Party.'' He said he was apprehensive of a "conspiracy" hatched by Mr. Krishna, who was related to Mr. Mallya. Mr. Krishna might have asked Mr. Mallya to display in the electronic media the symbol used by the Janata Parivar till 1983, as a ploy against the JD groups.
