Amara Raja forays into Japanese market

CHENNAI JUNE 18. Amara Raja Batteries (ARBL), manufacturer of standby VRLA (value regulated lead acid) batteries, has made a foray into the Japanese automotive market. An European company located in Japan has entered into an agreement with ARBL for importing premium range zero maintenance automotive batteries from India for passenger cars and light trucks in Japan. The ARBL batteries will be sold in a different brand name, which will be given by the Japanese company.

Addressing a press conference here today, Jay Galla, Executive Director, ARBL, said the order valued at Rs. 1 crore would be executed over the next one year.

The initial consignment would be 11,000 units. He said ARBL would provide servicing, warranty, administrative, support with market development and additional services.
