Former Meghalaya Minister kidnapped, released

Shillong June 15. The former Meghalaya Minister, K. C. Boro was kidnapped by a group of unidentified persons from Assam while he was travelling from Phulbari in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, but was released later, a senior police official said today.

The Director General of Police, L. Sailo, said Mr. Boro had left Phulbari at around 9.00 p.m. yesterday and when he entered an adjacent locality in Assam, he was kidnapped.

``However, the matter was resolved and Mr. Boro reached his home this morning,'' he said adding he was unable to confirm immediately whether the kidnappers were militants or criminals.

He could not provide any detail as to where Mr. Boro was headed to when he was kidnapped.
