Ivanov arrives

NEW DELHI JUNE 15. The Russian Foreign Minister, Igor Ivanov, arrived here tonight on a three-day visit to have extensive discussions with his Indian counterpart, Yashwant Sinha, on a wide range of issues, including international terrorism and religious extremism.

Mr. Ivanov, who flew in here from Pakistan, will call on the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, tomorrow.

He will also meet the Defence Minister, George Fernandes.

``Talks between our dignitaries and Mr. Ivanov are expected to further cement bilateral ties and shared positions on many issues of vital interest to both countries,'' an External Affairs Ministry official said.

``The two sides share similar positions on many issues, especially the struggle against international terrorism and religious extremism.''
