Defending champion Hewitt survived 21 aces to beat Belgian Dick Norman 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-4 and the American overcame Briton Greg Rusedski 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Agassi faces Xavier Malisse of Belgium in the quarterfinals. Hewitt plays sixth-seeded Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean and Roddick goes against fellow American Taylor Dent. In other third-round matches, Grosjean defeated Todd Reid of Australia, 6-1, 6-4; Briton Tim Henman won over Cyril Saulnier of France, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-3; Malisse beat Marc Rosset of Switzerland, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
