Sources said that Geetha, a sixth standard student of a government school in Medavakkam, had gone to her uncle's house in Medavakkam on Saturday for the weekend. Yesterday morning, the girl informed her relatives that she was going to the lake for a bath. Though the water level in the lake was low, Geetha, who resides in Rajiv Gandhi Street, Weavers Colony, Pallikaranai was trapped in the slush. When she did not return after a few hours, her relatives began to search for her and noticed her body floating in the lake. They pulled her out of the lake and rushed her to the Chromepet GH, where she was declared dead. Her uncle, Sakthivel lodged a complaint with the Pallikaranai police station.
