Panja waiting for Cong. invitation

Kolkata June 7. The suspended Trinamool Congress leader, Ajit Panja, today reiterated his willingness to join the Congress provided he received a `direct invitation' from the party, but said he would take the decision only after reading the pulse of the people and that of his colleagues in Mukta Mancha.

``The Trinamool Congress is finished and only the Congress can provide a viable alternative to West Bengal's ruling Left Front,'' Mr. Panja told newspersons at his residence here.

Stating that he had read about the Congress' willingness to welcome him back into the party-fold `only in the media', he said ``I haven't got any invitation directly from the Congress''. Mr. Panja, who fell out with the Trinamool chief, Mamata Banerjee, two years ago, recently floated the platform `Mukta Mancha'.
