LONDON: A first edition of J.K. Rowling's debut Harry Potter novel, priced at just a few pounds only six years ago, sold for more than £10,000 at a London auction. The copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone sold on Tuesday to an anonymous bidder for £10,575 against an estimate of between £8,000 and 12,000, auction house Christie's said. The 1997 book boasts original pictorial boards illustrated by Thomas Taylor and shows slight signs of wear and tear, but is otherwise in good condition.
