Plane takes detour

Berlin May 27. Pakistan's silence over resuming over-flight facility to India, forced the Air India plane carrying the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, to take a detour on his flight to Berlin on the first leg of his three-nation tour today, taking two-and-a-half extra hours of flying time. Due to the mutual ban on over-flying that was clamped in the aftermath of terrorist attack on Parliament in December 2001, the Air India One `Samudragupta' aircraft flew over Udaipur, Ahmedabad, the Arabian Sea, Oman, Iran, Turkey and over Eastern Europe before landing in Berlin's Tegel airport. . — PTI
