As soon as he landed by an Air India flight here, Parab was arrested by the police at the airport, according to sources. Parab, a rickshaw driver, had unleashed a reign of terror in Vikhroli, north east Mumbai. He fled India in 1995 and was wanted by the Mumbai police in several criminal cases. A red corner notice was issued against him in 1995. Parab's name also figured in the list of criminals submitted by Indian government to UAE. Parab's deportation will result in reopening of several criminal cases. He will be produced before a court tomorrow. The gangster is alleged to be involved in the conspiracy to kill Kim Bahadur Thapa, Shiv Sena corporator from Bhandup. Thapa was gunned down in the 1990s. Parab was also said to be involved in firing at businessman Hansraj Shah some years ago. He is also alleged to have killed his wife and was wanted in extortion and murder cases registered against him in various police stations. He is the sixth criminal to be deported from UAE, the others being Majnu Mustafa, Ejaz Pathan, Imran Rehman Khan, Iqbal Kaskar and Mohammed Altaf. Pathan and Mustafa were involved in the 1993 serial bomb blast case and are facing trial under TADA, while Khan and Altaf are booked under POTA in connection with Ghatkopar blast case. Iqbal Kaskar is facing charges of extortion and land grabbing.--PTI
