By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE APRIL 17. The monthlong exhibition on cinema — CineExpo 2003 — organised by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) will begin here on Friday.

The Union Minister for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, H.N.Ananth Kumar, will inaugurate the exhibition, and the Home Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge, will inaugurate the stalls put up at the exhibition.

The exhibition will be held on Palace Grounds with the entry being from the Mehkri Circle side.

The KFCC President, S. Ramesh, told presspersons here today that there would be a `Cinema preview hall,' where award-winning movies would be screened every day in the afternoon.

Mr. Ramesh said the exhibition was being organised to raise funds for the KFCC building, which is estimated to cost around Rs. 3 crore. He requested the public to participate in the exhibition in large numbers.

There would also be cultural programmes in the evenings. The well-known film actress, Hema Malini, would perform a Durga dance ballet on April 22. There would be a Kannada ghazal programme by Ravindra Handiganur on April 24, and a humour programme on April 25.

One stall is dedicated to cameras and other equipment used by the Kannada cinema industry since the beginning, Mr. Ramesh said. The entry fee is Rs. 30 on weekdays and Rs. 50 on holidays. Season passes are available at Rs. 1,000 at the venue till Friday evening. Venues where passes would be available from Saturday would be announced on Friday, he said.
