Ban order clamped in parts of Pondy

Pondicherry Feb. 12. The entire north wing of the Pondicherry region has been brought under the regulatory order with effect from February 11.

The Superintendent of Police, V.J. Chandran, said the order would remain in force till February 25.

The order would cover the police limits in Grand Bazaar, Odiansalai, Muthialpet, Lawspet, Kalapet, D.Nagar, Orleanpet and Mettupalayam.

Mr. Chandran said no procession, meeting, dharnas or any other form of agitation would be permitted without a valid licence.

The order does not cover celebration of marriage, government or religious functions, ceremonies or funeral processions.
