This Day That Age
The following, in order of merit, were among those chosen for the Indian Administrative Service by the Union Public Service Commission through the examinations conducted in September-October 1952: Sankaranarayana Iyer Venkitaramanan, Ambadi Krishnan Damodaran, Miss Pratibha Kumari Handa, Padmakar Ramachandra Dubhashi, Manjit Singh, Natwar Singh, Mani Narayanaswami, Bimal Chandra Mukherji, Ashoke Sen Chib, Sanjoy Kumar Bagchi, Codanda Ganapathi Somiah, Hamidullah Khan Ghazi and Kulamani Rath. The following were among those chosen for the Indian Foreign Service too: Sankaranarayana Iyer Venkitaramanan, Ambady Krishnan Damodaran, Padmakar Ramachandra Dubhashi, Manjit Singh, Nedungottu Philip Alexander, Natwar Singh, Cadambangudi Ramachandran Vaidyanathan, and Madan Mohan Kishan Wali. For the IAS the provisional number of vacancies was 33, and for the IFS that number was six.
