Samsung launches audio business

CHENNAI OCT. 3. Samsung India Electronics has launched its audio business by introducing a high tech audio range across portable (3 models), mini (4 models), Micro (1 model) and home theatre categories.

All Samsung audios will have VCD and MP3 playback. In the portable category, Samsung has introduced three models - CD Yepp (audio CD and MP3 CD and two digital audio players), Samsung Yepp - YP30 SH (smallest and lightest model with MP3 playback) and Samsung Yepp - YP90S (sporty pendant type with multi format playback). The audio range is priced between Rs. 5,490 and Rs. 36,000. The home theatre system is priced at Rs. 39,900.

Following the entry into the audio business and the consumer promotion, Samsung is confident of doing business over Rs. 600 crores in October-December. In the first eight months of this year, the company has done business worth Rs. 960 crores, with the consumer electronics contributing at 60 per cent with the balance coming from home appliance.

Samsung has launched festival offering for consumes starting from October 1 to November 15 this year. The promotion is valid for sales of all Samsung consumer electronics, home appliances, GSM mobile phones and PC powered by Samsung.
