Kamaraj rule a 'pet dream'

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI Aug. 21. The ruling AIADMK will continue to ``remain equidistant'' from both the Congress and the BJP till close to the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

Reacting to media queries on the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi's recent call for reviving Congress rule in Tamil Nadu, Ms.Jayalalithaa quipped: ``She is welcome to dream her dreams''. In a democracy, all political parties had their ``pet dreams''.

However, she did not think that the Congress chief's statement shut out an alliance option for her.

``I will take a decision at the time of the Lok Sabha election''. Discounting reports that she was getting closer to the BJP, Ms. Jayalalithaa insisted that AIADMK support for the NDA Vice-Presidential nominee, Bhairon Singh Shekawat, could not be construed as a pro-BJP move.
