Pak. reiterates stand on J&K polls

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD AUG. 20 . A day after India categorically rejected the Jethmalani committee suggestion for postponement of elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan urged New Delhi not to go ahead with it and termed it as a `sham' exercise.

Addressing a group of Kashmiris on `Pakistan Solidarity Day', the Pakistan Information Minister, Nisar Memon, reiterated the view of Islamabad that elections in Kashmir could not be a substitute for the promised `plebiscite' to enable the Kashmir people to exercise their right to self-determination.

The Minister accused the Indian forces of unleashing a `reign of terror' in the valley.
