PM calls on President

New Delhi Aug. 20. The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, today called on the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The meeting, which lasted 45 minutes, was held without aides, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said without giving further details.

The meeting took place a day after the President referred to the Supreme Court for its opinion the Election Commission's order ruling out early polls in Gujarat and suggesting the imposition of President's rule. — PTI
