Mamata to continue stir

Kolkata Aug. 10. The Trinamool Congress chief, Mamata Banerjee, today said her agitation on the Eastern Railway bifurcation issue would continue till the Dhanbad and Katihar divisions were returned to the zone.

``We have been warned that we will be beaten up and arrested if we stage a dharna before the Prime Minister's residence (against the bifurcation). Let them do whatever they can, but our struggle will continue,'' Ms. Banerjee told a party rally here before leaving for New Delhi. She said, ``if our dharna at the Prime Minister's residence on August 12 fails to elicit a response, we will decide the next course of action on August 13. We are scheduled to hold a `maha michhil' (grand rally) on August 21.''Ms. Banerjee said she had nothing against setting up of a new railway zone at Hajipur in Bihar, but asserted that she would not accept the division of Eastern and South Eastern Railways for setting up the new zone. — PTI
