Ashok Leyland Q1 sales up

NEW DELHI JULY 10. Ashok Leyland, India's second largest commercial vehicle maker, today said sales during June went up by 21 per cent to 2,985 vehicles from 2,466 vehicles in the same month last year. While domestic sales rose by 19.2 per cent to 2,813 vehicles, exports surged 60.8 per cent to 172 vehicles during the review month.

Sales during April-June increased by 19.1 per cent to 7,681 vehicles from 6,446 vehicles a year ago. Of this, exports shot by 127.1 per cent to 452 vehicles. June sales were higher by 21.3 per cent as compared to 2,460 vehicles sold in May this year.

Domestic sales of medium duty passenger vehicles during the month under review shot up by 62.8 per cent to 1,135 vehicles from 697 units in the year-ago month. Sales of medium duty goods vehicles recorded a 2.2 per cent rise at 1,676 units but that of light goods vehicles went down to two units from 23 units sold in June 2001. — PTI
