By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA May. 7. A mango grower of Gogulampadu village in Musunuru mandal of Krishna district consumed insecticide in front of the finance company which loaned him money and succumbed in the hospital in Nuzvid here today.

There was tension in the area when relatives of the farmer demonstrated in front of the finance company alleging that the harassment was the cause of his death. Koneru Subba Rao, 55, owned 1.5 acres of mango garden.

The yield of his garden dropped every year. About a year ago he borrowed money from a private finance company and purchased a tractor to augment his income.

Representatives of the finance company went to his house on Monday and took away the tractor as he was not paying the instalments.

Subba Rao came in the evening to Nuzvid to negotiate with the finance company but to no avail. He was later found unconscious in front of the finance company.

He was shifted to a hospital for treatment, but his condition deteriorated till he died on Tuesday evening. Subba Rao's relatives lodged a complaint against the finance company with the police.
