Digital's offshore delivery centre

BANGALORE MAY 6. The Bangalore-based Digital Global Soft is a key player in the infrastructure management services space. As a natural extension, it has established a new world class technical support contact centre on a 25 acre campus in Bangalore's Electronic City (Phase 2). This centre, which can be scaled up to accommodate 4,500 seats, makes a radical departure from existing such facilities in India.

A. N. Rao, Chief Information Officer and Head, einfra Services of Digital Global Soft, said, "We have kept two things in mind in designing this facility. One is eco-friendliness, involving such things as a high ratio of green to built-up space, attention to water-harvesting and energy economy measures. The other is a robust IT infrastructure that is secure, reliable, employing the latest in convergence, scalable and flexible. The idea is that growth in the number of seats is achieved without wasting any of the old investment.'' Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, has set up a high capacity network in this campus to implement a comprehensive array of networking solutions including IP Telephony, Virtual Private Networking, Security and Network Management Solutions. The multi-service network consists of carrier class routers, switches, firewalls and load balancing appliances and IP phones.

According to B. Ashok, Vice President, Cisco Systems India, this network and its facilities have been designed to support the mission critical work that this facility will be doing for Digital's global customers. At the heart of the facility is a top-of -the-line Microsoft Windows 2000 Data Centre cluster with all the necessary security and disaster recovery features. This centre will provide Internet Hosting Services and manage e-business platforms for Digital's customers in India and abroad.
