Murali Kartik scalps six

Bloemfontein (South Africa) April 7 . Murali Kartik scalped six wickets even as India `A' bowlers found themselves at the receiving end of some lusty hitting as South Africa `A' eased into a commanding position on the second day of their four-day cricket Test here on Saturday.

Replying to the India's first innings total of 291, the home team scored 469 with r. J. Peterson scoring a century. Opener J. Rudolph fell three short of a century being dismissed by left-arm spinner Murali Kartik for 97.

Rudolph and Van Jaarsveld, who made 57, put on 101 runs for the second wicket to set a sound platform for their team.

Earlier, the Indian innings folded in the sixth over of the day with the addition of only seven runs to the overnight total of 284 for eight. Kartik, who top-scored with 59, and Debasis Mohanty (33) were both dismissed by fast bowler Andre Pretorious who finished with impressive figures of six for 49 from his 19.1 overs.

Brief scores: India `A': 291 (M. Kartik 59, Yuveraj Singh 54, A. Pagnis 47, L. Balaji 37, D Mohanty 33; Pretorious six for 49) and 86 for three (Kaif (batting) 39).

South Africa `A': 469 (J. Rudolph 97, Van Jaarsveld 57, H.M Amla 82, R.J Peterson 108, Mohanty three for 77, Murali Kartik six for 101).
