Withdraw, Bush tells Israel

CRAWFORD (Texas) APRIL 6 . The U.S. President, George W. Bush, called on Israel on Saturday to withdraw without delay from the Palestinian cities it has occupied in its military campaign and insisted again that the Palestinian leadership order an immediate ceasefire and crack down on terrorist activity.

``My words to Israel are the same today as they were a couple of days ago: Withdraw without delay,'' he declared at a joint news conference with the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair.

A report from Ramallah, the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, was unhurt after Israeli tanks fired machineguns and tank shells at his besieged offices today, injuring three of his bodyguards.

In Jenin, West Bank, Israeli forces and Palestinians fought fiercely today in a refugee camp in the northern West Bank, with heavy casualties. One Palestinian fighter said he had counted 30 bodies.
