'Need to finetune medical curriculum'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM March 25. The need to finetune the medical curriculum and incorporate emerging knowledge was emphasised at a continuing medical education (CME) programme here today.

Addressing the CME on `Emerging trends in modern medicine', Fazil Marakkar, Professor of Surgery, said an updated curriculum was vital for upholding the quality of medical education.

The CME was organised as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Medical College.

M. V. Pillai, U.S.-based medical practitioner, focused on new knowledge on stem cell research. Dr. Pillai felt that Kerala held immense potential for launching stem cell research.

Jothy Dev, General Medicine lecturer, highlighted the advances in diabetes management.
