CHENNAI, FEB. 25. The AIADMK general secretary, Jayalalithaa, will be sworn in Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Saturday, March 2. The Governor, P.S. Ramamohan Rao, will administer the oath of office at the Madras University Hall. After her election as the leader of the AIADMK legislature group, and the resignation of the Chief Minister, O. Paneerselvam, the Governor had invited Ms. Jayalalithaa to form the government at the earliest and sought the list of Ministers with their portfolios. The delay in swearing-in was apparently because Ms. Jayalalithaa wanted an auspicious day for assuming office. On May 14 last year, she was hurriedly sworn in a day after the declaration of the election results.
