Two arrested on abduction charge

BANGALORE, SEPT. 23. The Cubbon Park Police have arrested two
associates of the notorious gangster, Malayali Praveen, on a
charge of abducting a man and relieving him of his car and a
mobile phone.
The names of the arrested were given as Harish (27) of Lalbagh
Road and Muragavelu, alias Muruga (28), of Sudhamanagar.
Police said that on September 20, Mr. Maria Bernard, an event
manager and a resident of Sampangiramnagar, parked his car in
front of the Bowring Institute on St. Mark's Road. Harish,
Muragavelu and their two accomplices accosted Mr. Bernard,
threatened him with a knife and took him in his car to Mathikere.
They asked Mr. Bernard to pay them Rs.1 lakh and threatened him
of dire consequences. They relieved him of his car and mobile
phone before fleeing.
Police have recovered the car and mobile phone from the two
culprits. Two others, including Praveen's brother, are absconding
and police are on the look out for them. The gangsters were
involved in robbery and abduction cases reported from
Sampangiramnagar, Jayanagar and Wilson Garden police limits.
Recovered
The Banashankari Police have arrested two youth who had allegedly
stolen cash and gold ornaments from the house of Mr. D.Arvind on
August 18.
Police recovered jewellery worth Rs.1 lakh and Rs. 2,800 in cash
by arresting Suresh (20) and Ramesh (20). The two were staying in
a shed next to Mr. Arvind's house at 2nd Cross, Channamanakere,
and used to run errands for his family.
They stole a spare key of Mr. Arvind's house and allegedly
committed the theft, police said.
Bodies found
Bodies of two unidentified men were found in Yelahanka and Ulsoor
police limits in the City.
A man aged about 75 years was found dead near Domlur Road at
about 9.30 a.m. on Sunday. The body has been sent for autopsy.
Police suspect that the man fell down after losing balance, and
died immediately. The Ulsoor Police have registered a case of
unnatural death.
The body of a man aged about 45 years was found in a well at a
farm owned by Mr. Hemanna at Jakkur on Saturday afternoon. The
body has been kept at M.S.Ramaiah Hospital mortuary. The
Yelahanka Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
Boy killed
A seven-year-old boy died of injuries at a hospital after he was
knocked down by a tempo in Adugodi Police limits on Sunday
afternoon.
According to police, Roopesh, a First Standard student at AVS
Convent, Sudhamanagar, and son of Mr. Balaji, was crossing the
80-ft Road at Adugodi at about 4 p.m. when the tempo hit him. He
was rushed to the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital. However, he
died of injuries.
The tempo has been seized. Police have arrested the driver,
Francis. The Adugodi Police have registered a case.
