Senior police officer for elections

CHENNAI, SEPT. 23. With hardly a month left for the local bodies
polls, the Government yesterday designated a senior police
officer as the Inspector-General (Elections).
Mr. Bholanath, who was till now Inspector-General of Prisons,
Chennai, has been posted as the Inspector-General of Police
(Elections), Chennai.
In the latest reshuffle of police officers, first after the new
Chief Minister took over yesterday, the Inspector-General of
Police (Intelligence), Mr. Vibhakar Sharma, has been posted as
Inspector-General of Prisons, Chennai, to succeed Mr. Bholanath.
Also, the Tiruchi Police Commissioner, Mr. Ashutosh Shukla, has
been transferred and posted as DIG, Coimbatore range, which post
remained vacant for quite some time now.
According to police sources, an officer in the rank of Inspector-
General is required for the municipal election as it involves a
huge mobilisation of force.
Mr. C. V. Rao, DIG, Tiruchi range, will hold full additional
charge as Tiruchi Commissioner.
The other postings are:
Mr. C. Murugeswaran, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and
Order, Tirunelveli city, is transferred and posted as
Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, CID (SIT), Coimbatore,
vice Mr. K. Gopalakrishnan, IPS. Mr. K. Gopalakrishnan, IPS, on
return from leave, is posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police,
Law and Order, Tirunelveli city, vice Mr. C. Murugeswaran, IPS.
Mr. N. Chenbaharaman, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime
and Traffic, Coimbatore city, is transferred and posted as
Commandant, Tamil Nadu Special Police I Battalion, Tiruchi, vice
Mr. P. Balasubramanian, IPS.
Mr. P. Balasubramanian, IPS, Commandant, Tamil Nadu Special
Police I Battalion, Tiruchi, is transferred and posted as Deputy
Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Coimbatore city, vice Mr.
K. Shankar, IPS, already transferred.
Mr. A.M.S. Gunaseelan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Hindu
Religious and Charitable Endowment (Administration) Department,
Chennai, is transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police,
CCIW, CID, Chennai, vice Mr. S. Avudayappan, IPS.
Mr. S. Avudayappan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, CCIW, CID,
Chennai, is transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police,
Crime Branch, CID (SIT), Chennai, vice Mr. S. Boju, already
retired.
Mr. Anand Kumar Somani, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police,
on completion of training, is posted as Assistant Superintendent
of Police, Nanguneri sub-division, Tirunelveli district, in the
existing vacancy.
