Medal for CBI Joint Director

NEW DELHI, JAN. 25.Mr. R.N. Sawani, Joint Director of the CBI, who had led the agency's crack team that investigated the cricket match fixing scandal, is among the four CBI officers who have been awarded President's Police medal for distinguished service on this year's Republic Day.

Mr. J.C. Dabas, also a Joint Director, in the agency's Special Task Force (STF) of the Economic Offences, Mr. H.P. Singh, Superintendent of Police in the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA) and Mr. E. Muthiah, Inspector at Chennai, have also been awarded the President's Medal for distinguished service.

Fourteen officers and other ranks of the CBI have been selected for police medal for meritorious service. They are: Mr. Vijoy Kumar, DIG, Kolkata, Mr. Rakesh Asthana, DIG, Patna, Mr. Nand Kishore, DIG, New Delhi, Mr. James Kurian, Dy. SP, North Zone, New Delhi, Mr. Randhir Singh Punia, Dy. SP, New Delhi, Mr. R.D. Kalia, Dy. SP, Jodhpur, Mr. V.K. Reghukumar, Dy. SP, Chennai, Mr. Nand Lal Malhotra, Sub-Inspector, New Delhi, Mr. Kedar Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector, New Delhi, Mr. A.K. Sreekumaran, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Chennai, Mr. Mohan Singh and Mr. Virender Singh, both Head Constables at CBI headquarters, Mr. Sukhpal Singh Chaudhary and Mr. Jagdish Chand, both Constables at the agency's headquarters here.

37 CRPF officers get medals

As many as 37 officers and jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been awarded President's police medal for distinguished service and police medal for meritorious service by the President, Mr. K.R. Narayanan, on the occasion of the 52nd Republic Day.

While President's police medal for distinguished service has been awarded to three personnel, police medal for meritorious service has been given to 34, according to a CRPF release.

Mr. K Pottaiah, Commandant, Directorate General, Mr. R. N. Mishra, Commandant, group centre Bhubaneshwar and Mr. V.K. Sharma, Deputy Commandant, 14 battalion of CRPF have been awarded the President's police medal, it said.

The police medal was given to Mr. T.A.A. Hakeem, Mr. S. S. Ali Khan, Ms. V.M. Sitalaxami, Mr. Karan Singh, Mr. Mahipal Singh, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Mr. Ishwar Singh, Mr. Madan Lal, Mr. Babu Singh, Mr. Bakshish Singh, Mr. S.S. Negi, Mr. E.R. Menon, Mr. Shambu Singh.

Mr. C. Raghavan Nair, Mr. Bhagwan Dass, Mr. Chuhar Singh, Mr. Sarwan Singh, Mr. Kalip Singh, Mr. R.N. Tripathy, Mr. Giarsi Lal, Mr. Ram Narayan, Mr. Hari Singh, Mr. Mukhtiar Chand, Mr. Chaoudhary Ram, Mr. Gurdev Singh, Mr. S.S. Yadav, Mr. Bhairu Singh, Mr. M. Loganathan, Mr. M. Tshering, Mr. D. Bernard, Mr. Jeet Bahadur, Mr. M.R. Nagina, Mr. Mohinder Kumar and Mr. Sheojee Shah.
