Advani assurance to T.N.

NEW DELHI, NOV. 23. The Centre would provide the Tamil Nadu
Government all assistance, in terms of manpower and equipment, to
nab the brigand Veerappan, the Union Home Minister, Mr. L. K.
Advani, assured a delegation from the State here today.
The team included the Chief Secretary, the Home Secretary and the
Director-General of Police. The Union Environment Minister, Mr.
T. R. Baalu, was also present.
The delegation, sent by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr. M.
Karunanidhi, explained to Mr. Advani the steps taken to track
down Veerappan and the assistance they needed from the Centre.
The State Home Secretary and the DGP will discuss details on
coordination with their Karnataka counterparts on Saturday, a
State Government release said here.
The delegation also met the Defence Minister, Mr. George
Fernandes, and sought his Ministry's assistance in the bid to nab
the brigand.
