Two Sikasa leaders killed

By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD, APRIL 17. Two Singareni Karmika Samakhya (Sikasa) leaders were killed in an exchange of fire with the police in Duganepalli village under Bellampalli sub-division of Adilabad district on Monday.

According to reports, police, on a tip-off that the Bellampalli rural Sikasa Central Organiser and local guerrilla squad commander, Krishnapalli Yellaiah alias Srinu (25) and deputy commander, Charkupalli Seenu alias Kiran (26) were taking shelter in the house of a miner, rushed to the village. Police, after cordoning off the area, made an announcement over a hand-held mike to the naxalites to surrender.

The naxalites refused to heed the request and continued to stay put in the house. The police made all efforts to ensure that the naxalites surrender and as the last ditch effort they sent a village servant, Jidi Lingaiah, to the house where the naxalites were taking shelter to make an appeal.

As the request failed police managed to climb on to the roof of the RCC house and made a hole and hurled teargas shells. Thereafter heavy exchange of fire continued between the holed up naxalites and the police. After two long hours of firing police entered the house to find the bullet riddled bodies of the naxalites.

According to a report from Karimnagar, the CPI-ML Janashakthi group central organiser of Vemulawada, Chandurthi and Boinpalli mandals, P Ganga Reddy alias Shivanna, was killed in an encounter with the police between the Lingampeta and Sanugula village outskirts under Chandurthi police station limits.
