Harika, Humpy in last 16

NEW DELHI: D. Harika sealed her place in the third round of the women's World chess championship at Hatay, Turkey, by completing a 2-0 victory over Russia's Tatiana Shadrina on Wednesday.

Having won the first game with black on Tuesday, Harika proved superior with white as well. The 47-move victory gave Harika, seeded nine, a berth in the round of 16. Second-seeded K. Humpy joined Harika in the third round after a 1.5-0.5 victory over England's Jovanka Houska. The 55-move draw was enough for Humpy to advance since she had won the first game on Tuesday.
