MG and Maharaja's College in semifinals

KOCHI: Ernakulam's Maharaja's College and Thiruvananthapuram's MG marched into the semifinals of the second Aircel all-Kerala inter-collegiate Twenty20 cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

Maharaja's defeated Thiruvananthapuram's University College by 27 runs and topped Group ‘C' after its third straight win while MG defeated Thevara's Sacred Heart by two wickets and topped Group ‘D' with three wins.

The scores (league):

Maharaja's (Ernakulam) 163 for eight in 20 overs (Sabin S. Karnavar 51, Sadam A. Das 43) bt University College (Thiruvananthapuram) 136 for six in 20 overs (Mohd. Shanu 46).

DB, Sasthamkotta, Kollam 65 in 16 overs lost to Sree Kerala Varma (Thrissur) 67 for three in 13.5 overs.

Brennen (Thalassery) 129 for nine in 20 overs bt SD (Alappuzha) 83 in 16.3 overs (Mohd. Shahzeen five for eight).

Sacred Heart (Thevara) 116 for six in 20 overs (Unnikrishnan three for 14) lost to MG (Thiruvananthapuram) 118 for eight in 19.2 overs. (Sree Haran three for 25, Sanjo three for 12).

Farook (Kozhikode) 71 for nine in 20 overs (Krishnakumar three for 14) lost to St. Thomas (Thrissur) 73 for two in 6.5 overs. (Gineesh 38 n.o,).

Century CC schools tournament: St. Ephrem's, Mannanam 155 for three in 20 overs (Fazeel Shaji 64 n.o., Mohammed Azharuddeen 53) bt Government HSS, Edappally 85 in 18.3 overs (Manuprabath 35, Said Ali Mon five for 23).

SRV Model HS, Ernakulam 101 for six in 20 overs lost to Kalladi HSS, Palakkad 102 for four in 16.3 overs (P.V. Vinod 56).
