Jeevaraj withdraws resignation
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: D.N. Jeevaraj has withdrawn his resignation and has decided to continue as the chief whip of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Legislative Assembly.
Mr. Jeevaraj, a two-time MLA from Sringeri and a senior party worker from Chikmagalur district, tendered his resignation last month seeking a ministerial berth in the Yeddyurappa Government.
Mr. Jeevaraj told presspersons here on Wednesday that the party leadership had asked him to continue in the post following the Supreme Court issuing a notice to Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and Speaker K.G. Bopaiah on special leave petitions filed by seven of the 11 disqualified Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs, challenging the Karnataka High Court order upholding the Speaker's decision.
