Bangalore: The Central Division police have arrested 24 persons, reportedly Janata Dal (Secular) activists, for allegedly attacking the residence of the Chief Minister's political secretary, B.J. Puttaswamy. The accused staged an agitation in front of Mr. Puttaswamy's residence at Vyalikaval here on Tuesady night and allegedly hurled stones at it. Arrests “We have arrested 24 persons on Thursday in connection with the incident,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) G. Ramesh told The Hindu. The arrested will be charged for threatening Mr. Puttaswamy, indulging in rioting and damaging property. The accused had also allegedly gheraoed Mr. Puttaswamy as soon as he alighted from his car on Tuesday night, another official said. “We are questioning the accused and later we will produce them before the 8th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court,” he added. The attack on Mr. Puttaswamy's house came within hours of him levelling allegations of land-grabbing against the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and his sons, the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and the former Minister H.D. Revanna.
