Pay commission on lines of 6th pay commission sought

‘Regularise services of contract workers'

Dharwad: The Akhil Karnataka State Government Employees' Federation have demanded formation of the State pay commission on lines of the Central Sixth Pay Commission. Members of the federation staged a protest here.

The federation urged the Government to drop the proposal of privatisation of pension scheme for the Government employees and continue with the existing scheme keeping in mind the interests of the employees. Demanding timely hike in the pay structure, the federation said that it would be difficult for the State Government employees to make a decent living if the State Government failed to form a pay commission keeping in mind the increasing prices of essential commodities. The members demanded that house rent allowance should be hiked for all categories of government employees and the entire dearness allowance should be taken into account while calculating the Death cum Retirement Gratuity.

Similarly, the Government should take immediate steps to regularise the services of the contract employees and fill the vacancies in the government departments, the federation urged.
