Appointment of LPG distributors proposed

NAGAPATTINAM: Under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen LPG Vitrak Yojana, the district administration has proposed to appoint distributors for cooking gas in all the11 blocks in the district. As part of the scheme, the administration has appointed cooking gas distributors in two blocks of Keezhvelur and Manalmedu, here in the district.

The appointments were made by Collector C.Munianathan, in pursuance of the permission granted by the Indian Oil Corporation for appointment of gas distributors.

Distributors were picked by way of lots here on Thursday, on the basis of applications received from various dealers.

To increase coverage

Rajiv Gandhi Grameen LPG Vitrak Yojana seeks to increase domestic cooking gas coverage to 75 per cent of the rural population by 2015.

S.Pattabhiraman, Chief Manager, Indian Oil Corporation, Trichy was among those present on the occasion.
