Irreparable loss:Lakshmi, wife of Ramesh wailing at the site. Anantapur: In a shocking incident here, three persons riding a TVS moped were mowed down by a train when they were crossing the rail gate at Ramnagar in the city on Wednesday morning. The tragedy occurred when the trio, Ramesh (35), his son Nanda Kumar (11) and his brother-in-law, Arun Kumar (22), were trying to cross the gate, despite it being closed, when a Bangalore-bound train hit the moped on the tracks. According to eyewitnesses, Ramesh tried to cross the tracks even as the speeding train was drawing near. Further, he even stopped the moped right on the tracks to pick up the cell phone dropped by his son. In the confusion, Ramesh accelerated his moped and simultaneously firmly held the brakes of the two-wheeler, which claimed the lives of all the three on the moped. The moped was hit by the train in the presence of many people waiting on either sides of the gate. All the three were crushed beyond recognition and the remains of their bodies were strewn all over the tracks for four to five furlongs. Lakshmi, wife of Ramesh, started crying uncontrollably on hearing of the tragic accident which claimed the life of her husband, son and her brother. The railway police visited the scene of the accident and are investigating into it.
