‘Gulf Malayalis' is theme for next Kamal film

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Film-maker Kamal has always impressed the audience by effectively portraying human emotions and relationships on screen. His works like ‘Meghmalhar', ‘Madhuranombarakattu', and ‘Perumazhakalam' had earned appreciation for capturing the varied facets of life.

Kamal is once again making an attempt to touch a chord with the moviegoers through his latest flick, ‘Gaddama'. The movie tries to map the plight of domestic workers in the Gulf. Made under the banner of Anitha productions, ‘Gaddama' progresses through the life of Aswathi, played by actor Kavya Madhavan.

Stating that the movie is inspired by a real-life story, Kamal said that Gaddama will narrate the story of the immigrants who sweat it out in the Gulf to make a living. It will be a true reflection of their life, he said.

The movie is based on ‘Gaddama', a story penned by K. U. Iqbal. Kamal and K. Girish Kumar have penned the script for the film. Actors Sreenivasan and Biju Menon play key roles in ‘Gaddama'.

Rafeeq Ahmed has penned the lyrics in the movie.

The shooting of the movie will begin in the Gulf by October 20.
