University of Madras study centres in Coimbatore with library facility

Contact classes will be held on Sundays; admissions open to all courses

COIMBATORE: Sethupathi Institute and its branches Sri Kumaran Institute, and Senthur Institute, have been selected as study centres of the University of Madras.

According to the co-ordinator A. Rajendran, almost all the courses offered by University of Madras will be offered in the distance education mode.

A fee reduction of 20 per cent will be offered to women, alumni of University of Madras, and Defence personnel. The courses will be offered free to differently abled and prisoners. Contact classes will be held on Sundays.

The centres have library and computer laboratory facilities. Admissions are open to all the courses.

“Karishma” on September 24

PSGR Krishnammal College for Women will host “Karishma”, an inter-collegiate cultural fest on September 24.

According to a college release, nearly 1,000 participants from around 100 colleges are expected to participate. Various events are being planned to bring out the inherent talents of the students.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment D. Napoleon will inaugurate the event. G. Rangaswamy, Managing Trustee, GRG Trust, will preside.

Nikhil Mathew, playback singer, will be the special guest for the valediction.

Workshop at GDR

GRD School of Information Technology and Science of Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science will organise a workshop on “Research Documentation with LaTex” on September 23 and 24.

According to a release, it will be held in association with the Society of Promoting Alternate Computing and Employment. It will focus on open source tool LaTex which aids the research community in the integration of scientific writing.

It is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. Resource persons from industry and academia will conduct the sessions.
