Ramesh scalps six wickets

Chennai: M. Ramesh claimed six wickets for 32 runs to help Lucas TVS RC to a six-wicket win over Sundram Clayton RC, in the TNCA-TDCA fourth division cricket league, here.

Gymkhana wins thriller

Madras Gymkhana registered a thrilling one-run win over Mylapore Club, in the quarterfinals of the P.R. Shankar Trophy cricket tournament here on Monday.

Madras Gymkhana will meet Madras Cricket Club in the semifinals. T. Nagar Social Club ‘A' and Alumni will clash in the other semifinal.

Yogesh shines

S. Yogesh scored a 31-ball 50 comprising three fours and three sixes, to help Sri Sankara CA beat Kanniah CA by four runs, in the CSCA-Super League under-12 cricket tournament, here. Aditya Raman claimed three wickets for 31 runs for Sri Sankara.

HVF Avadi posts win

HVF Avadi beat Air India 3-2 in the Chennai District Hockey Association first division league at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Monday. Jagan scored a hat-trick for HVF.

The results: HVF Avadi 3 (Jagan 3) bt Air India 2 (Praveen, Dinesh); Indira Gandi Memorial HC 8 (Dinakaran 2, Anbu, Irudayaraj, Vinoth Kumar 3, Vijaykumar) bt Ashok Leyland 0.

Ekambaram, Anirudh take honours

Ekambaram and Anirudh (59 Nett) won the Madras Gymkhana Club Captains Prize golf tournament while Venkat Krishnan and V. Tarun (66 gross) lifted the Secretary Shield.

The results: Captains Prize: 1. Ekambaram & Anirudh (59 Nett), 2. P. Krishnan & Venkatramana (61 Nett). Secretary Shield: 1. Venkat Krishnan & V. Tarun (66 Gross), Birdies: G. Suresh & Abhinav Suresh (3 birdies) .

St. Joseph's victorious

St. Joseph's College of Engineering men won the Anna University inter-zone football championship beating Dr. Paul's Engineering College 4-2.

The event was conducted at the Mailam Engineering College, Tindivandam.

In the semifinals, St. Joseph's beat CEG Anna University 4-2 in the tie-breaker.
