Sagar outwits Rynold

KOCHI: Karnataka's Sagar Manjunath, a qualifier, surprised Kerala champion Rynold Timothy in a three-set thriller in the men's singles opening round of the RSC-AITA all-India ranking tennis tournament at the Regional Sports Centre here on Monday.

The match went to the tiebreaker in the first and final sets but Sagar held his nerve to come out successful.

Meanwhile, Delhi's Arantxa Andrady upset Amreen Chaudhary, the fifth seed from UP, 6-1, 6-4 in the women's first round.
